Review: 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

By Marc de Vinck. Posted

There are many different types of wired communication out there, including DMX. And for those of you unfamiliar with this protocol, it’s basically a standard for controlling commercial lighting controllers. And since there are so many lighting projects out there in the DIY community, we thought we should look at a shield from tindie.com ($44.95). We’re not going to go into depth about the difference between DMX and XLR cables, as there is some overlap, and it gets complicated quickly. All you need to know is that this particular shield is available in 3-pin XLR or 5-pin XLR, and if that’s what you need, then take a look at this shield.

Verdict

9/10

Multiple options makes this a great choice.
