Important news about HackSpace

We have some important news to share about HackSpace: Issue 81 was the last issue of HackSpace as a standalone magazine, and HackSpace has become part of The MagPi, the official Raspberry Pi magazine. Starting with issue 145, We’ll be adding pages to The MagPi to make room for the stories and tutorials you’ve come to expect from HackSpace.

The internet is full of devices that should never have been connected to it. Refrigerators, baby monitors, and even toilets are all out there on the Internet of Things (IoT), many of them still with the factory preset password. Just because we can connect something to the internet, doesn’t mean that we should.

We most emphatically should connect things like this to the internet. It’s a remote-controlled rover, complete with a camera, that you can control from anywhere in the world over the internet – it’s a bit like one of Amazon’s smart doorbells, except that it’s got four wheels and you can use it to chase the dog around the house when you’re not in.
