Important news about HackSpace

We have some important news to share about HackSpace: Issue 81 was the last issue of HackSpace as a standalone magazine, and HackSpace has become part of The MagPi, the official Raspberry Pi magazine. Starting with issue 145, We’ll be adding pages to The MagPi to make room for the stories and tutorials you’ve come to expect from HackSpace.

More Colour Sensing Project Ideas

By Poppy Mosbacher. Posted

In our latest magazine we show you how to create a colour matching ambient light using an RGB colour sensor. They're great little sensors so you'll may want to add them to other projects as well. Here's a selection of ideas to get you started.

The Youtube channel Easy Arduino has combined the same sensor with servo motors, to create a colour sorting robot.

And for anyone with rockstar style demands, this robot sorts sweets by colour.

If you'd like to make your own sorting device, How to Mechatronics walks you through the process using a similar sensor to the one we used in the magazine.

To discover more about how the sensors work, AlfredH1 has created a guide sharing their experiments with colour sensing. And Electro18 shows it's possible to build your own sensor for under $2, which won them second prize in the Instructables Tech Contest.

The LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 kit includes a colour sensor, which you could use to organise bricks or take it up a notch and build an automated miniture warehouse system.
