Important news about HackSpace

We have some important news to share about HackSpace: Issue 81 was the last issue of HackSpace as a standalone magazine, and HackSpace has become part of The MagPi, the official Raspberry Pi magazine. Starting with issue 145, We’ll be adding pages to The MagPi to make room for the stories and tutorials you’ve come to expect from HackSpace.

KOAT0 Portable Terminal

By Ben Everard. Posted

We’ve seen many homemade portable computer builds, but not too many that purposefully eschew the usual OLED screens in favour of a dinky 256×48 VFD display. The maker, Robson Couto, concedes that this isn’t really enough screen real estate to be useful but that, in this case, he’s aiming to make something beautiful rather than functional.

The build uses a Raspberry Pi 3 (because that’s what Robson had available to him at the time), a K68 mechanical keyboard, and a cool 3D-printed handle/case, so in the event of a zombie apocalypse, it’ll be handy to use on the move.
